Today's Datan from the
Darogan speaks of a
Discerning Man, with changing
Pelider in the second and fifth
positions, moving to
Self-defined Man.
Right now, I don't feel all that Discerning, nor do I feel all that Self Defined, but the Madaw service was a wonderful gift from Cren, especially after George's reading last night at the Open Mind. George read well, but the audience was quiet and not very responsive, at least at first. Eventually they warmed to his presence and presentation, and a few of his books (A Self Defined Man) were sold. The heavy snowfall throughout the day made the trip difficult for many, some indicating that they spent two hours travelling across town, so there were definitely a few determined people in the audience, most of whom are old friends and aquaintences, in addition to writers and interested students. After George had finished signing signing books and backed his things we headed down to the Assembly where he experienced his first Madaw service. Overall, he was pleased with the experience and was comforted by the spiritual presence of the participants, although he was slightly embarassed when he was asked to remove his clothes and leave them in the foyer. Even though I have described the nature of these services many times, he had fully internalized the fact that no one is allowed into the Devod with clothes on.
